Misaki Town Full Time ALT Position
This opening is for a full-time position as an assistant language teacher (ALT) in Misaki Town, Okayama Prefecture starting April 2018, with the initial contract finishing at the beginning of March 2019.
Misaki Town has had a fruitful sister-city relationship with Thames in New Zealand for many years. During this time they have had 3 representatives from New Zealand every year to be their ALTs. With the new school year starting in April, Misaki Town is looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and fun new teacher from New Zealand to join their education program to take the role of a teacher going back to NZ!
The placement will be in Elementary Schools and Junior High Schools across Misaki Town, where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by the Board of Education. As well as teaching English lessons, you may also be asked to participate in other school activities such as clubs, cleaning of the school and cultural festivals.

Japanese language training
- Be a native speaker of English, or have acquired an education in English for at least 12 years.
- Completed a University Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in English countries.
Must be currently residing in Japan or have immediate plans to relocate to Japan.
Have a strong interest in Japanese culture and language and be able to connect with Japanese people.
Must have a valid visa status that allows you to live and work in Japan (Sponsorship available)
Must have a valid driver’s license and car to commute to schools every day.
Prefer to have conversational Japanese skill.
Prefer to have at least one year of ALT English teaching experience at Elementary school, Junior High school, High School, or Kindergarten
